Princess Mary is a bad Australian
In the lead up to Australia Day, an Aussie magazine has voted {Princess Mary one of the worst Australians in their official "un-Australian" list of the year.
Crown Princess Mary of Denmark came third in their list of the worst Australian of the year, mainly because she now speaks 'Australian' with a Danish accent.
2nd on the list was God, due to the devastating floods. (Really? Australian?)
First was Jullian Assange of Wiki-Leaks.
Well, well.
Harsh words from a quality magazine such as Zoo. Leave our Mary alone, you bullies. If you don't, we'll send Peter Andre back to you.

I agree. The Australian accent is terrible. Who can blame Mary for obscuring it.

David Jorgensen - you know what is unacceptable?
Forming an opinion on an entire country based on one men's magazine article and a crummy tourism commercial.
Fiona - just like other countries Australia actually has not only one accent.

Dear Emily
Please develop a sense of humour. And learn where the 'ø' is on your keyboard.
Lots of love

As a Dane, I too have noticed Marys change in accent, but I don't find it odd. Some people are like sponges for accents, I am sure after a long visit home, she will get her accent back.
My first language was English (American) but I moved to Denmark, and now have a strong Danish accent. I work with international students, and after spending an entire week with these students, I have to stop myself from getting a Spanish/Thai/Russian accent.
Mary isn't being rude to the Australians, she just hears a lot of Danish accents!

The Australian accent is a homely accent spoken with flat vowels and it sounds worse the more uneducated the speaker, as is the case with all languages. Incidentally, I'm an Australian of German and Danish descent.
