And the "not so clever" award of the week goes to...

He decided to try and aplit the atom - in his kitchen.

Ensuring people would understand that these experiements were not malicious in any way, he even kept a blog about his ongoing kitchen science projects.

At one point, having had a bit of a meltdown (the experiments, not him. Ed) he got in touch with the local authorities just to double check that was he's been doing has been 'all legal'.

It wasn't so, said the authoroties.  Richard Handl said that he had the radioactive elements radium, americium and uranium in his apartment in southern Sweden when police showed up and arrested him on charges of unauthorised possession of nuclear material.

Mr Handl has promised to stick to books from now on and no more trying to make a nuclear reactor in his ikea kitchen.
